The fellow in the seat in front of me hit 1M miles on this trip, and while the pilot in no way resembled Sam Elliot in Up In The Air much to my disappointment, she (which did make me insanely pleased) did come out to give him congratulations, along with the bursar and the lead FA.

I think I was the only person who saw it, so it wasn’t quite the public celebration…

Apparently there are a few people sitting at 4M (“I’ve got a number in my mind”). Not me — I was all about the quick-hit convenience of non-stop flights in my early travel days, rather than maximizing points and status. I finally learned my lesson. Maybe I’ll hit 1M before this mission is over.

Despite flying for 1M miles, he was one of those jerks who opens the window shades for the whole flight, being a dick to everyone else who is trying to sleep. There’s one on every flight. And with 1M, he’s it for lots of them. Guess what – it was cloudy the whole trip, you couldn’t see anything.
